一个生物学家在试管中培养细胞，他先将一个活细胞放入试管中，一秒钟后，这个细胞分裂成功２个细胞；两秒钟后，２个细胞分裂成４个细胞……每过一秒钟后，试管中的细胞的数量就增加一倍。当试管中再没有空间容纳新的细胞了，分裂就停止了。如果试管中原来只有１个细胞，３分钟后，试管中的所有空间就被占满了。
