I have been using HPZ800 Server for a long time (the server was first made in 2010 – and I purchased it on Ebay at 2015). The server is very powerful even it is today (10 years old). And the server is very stable because of using ECC (Error Checking Code) RAM.

The HPZ800 server has two physical CPUs: 2 x intel XEON X5650 – peak frequency 2.67 GHz and with Turbo and Overclock – you can reach up to 3.6GHz (although you would need a more powerful CPU fan to prevent overheating) – the normal temparature for CPU is around 80 degrees.

One X5650 CPU has 12 cores so 2 CPUs show 24 cores in Task Manager

However you have to turn on the Hyber Threading settings in BIOS to utilitize 24 cores.

There are 4 SATA-2 (Peak rate 3.0Gbp/s) hard drives slots.

I recently purchased 2 Seagate 4TB Harddrives – I know Seagate HDD has a higher failing rate (annual failure rate (AFR)) but I intended to use two to make a RAID 1 mirror using the Windows Storage Space.

However, the HDDs are not recongized at all by the system (I guess the BIOS software is legacy even I recently updated the BIOS – in other words, the motherboard is quite outdated to support the latest technologies such as NVme SSD). Therefore I have to replace them with Western Data (WD) 2TB HDD – I purchased 3 of them so that I can replace the dying HDDs (they have been running for more than 5 years and started recently to showing yellow warning signs by CrystalDiskInfo software).

I guess I was lucky this time because I managed to backup the data from the HDD before it is about to die.
