从前有一个土耳其商人，想找一个既聪明又能干的助手，于是便贴出告示。前来报名的有两个人，商人想测验一下这两人谁比较聪明，就给他们出了一道有趣的数学题。

他把这两个人带进一间没有窗户、没有镜子、靠灯光来照明的房子里。商人打开一个盒子，对两人说：“这里面有5顶帽子，2顶是红色的，3顶是黑色的。现在我熄灯，我们3个人每人摸一顶戴在自己的头上，然后把盒子盖上，再点亮灯。请尽快说出自己头上带的是什么颜色的帽子。”

说完，3个人就这样做了。当灯点亮时，两个人都看见商人戴的是红色的帽子。过了一会儿，其中一个人说：“我戴的是黑色的帽子。”这个人猜对了。
